Course description

Hairdressing is an exciting and growing industry. As our society becomes increasingly focused on style and appearance, the demand for hairdressing services is at an all time high.

What does this qualification involve?

This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed as hairdressers working as part of a team in a hairdressing environment, and who are competent in communicating in the workplace, consulting with clients, selling products and services, and designing and applying a broad range of technical hairdressing services on clients.

These individuals possess a range of well-developed skills where discretion and judgement is required and are responsible for their own outputs.

What employment opportunities will I have?

Hairdressers can work in a number of locations. When you graduate you could choose to work in one of the many hairdressing careers such as; business, travel, education, sales, to name a few.

Delivery and work placement

14 hours a week over 52 weeks in a salon training venue. Salons located at Werribee, Melton, Moonee Ponds and Dandenong.#

# Classes are subject to minimum student numbers.

What is the difference between salon training venue and salon placement?

Salon training venue is where you will learn the required skills and knowledge and practice skills. You will also perform your final assessments. The salon placement is where you practice your new skills in an actual working salon.

Do I need people to practice my hairdressing skills on?

Yes, TMG recommend you invite your family and friends. A small fee will be charged to cover costs. If you can’t find models, TMG will support you with advertising.

What does salon placement time mean?

To ensure you are industry ready TMG have real working salons for you to complete your salon training. TMG will allocate time for you to complete your placement or TMG can support you to find placement in other hairdressing salons.
